Women receive almost half of all law degrees awarded in the US, yet are underrepresented at the partner level in private practice, in the general counsel’s office in corporate America and at the bench and bar in the courtroom.

Studies also show that female attorneys as a whole are paid less than their male counterparts.

This program explores the sources of these inequities and how we can achieve gender equality in the legal workplace.

Planned by the Women in the Profession Committee

  • The New ABA Model Ethics Rule on Harassment and Discrimination
  • First Chairs at Trial: More Women Need Seats at the Table
  • Implicit Gender Bias in the Legal Profession
  • What We as a Profession Can Do About the “Impact” of Implicit Bias—Panel Discussion
  • The Why and How of Diversity in the Legal Profession—Panel Discussion
