Few sections of the North Carolina Bar Association sing in the kind of harmony, or have as much practical overlap, as the Government & Public Sector Section and Zoning, Planning & Land Use Section.

This joint CLE between these Sections will address a host of timely topics bearing significantly on the practices of land use lawyers and public sector lawyers, alike.

Join us for a review of judicial treatment of local government enabling powers, the status of the sweepstakes business, new laws affecting public contracting, and different species of public-private collaboration, all served alongside a relevant case law update and a topical ethics discussion.

If your practice involves work with state and local governments, and you find yourself needing to know the latest issues and decisions impacting land use, planning and zoning, this CLE is for you.

This CLE greatly enhances your knowledge of recent court decisions and legislative changes impacting state and local governments in the areas of zoning, planning and land use.

You will take away practical tools that enhance your ability to represent your clients and advocate on their behalf.

You also will have the opportunity to network with colleagues and interact with speakers on the forefront of these issues.

  • Hear from counsel on both sides of the Lanvale case to gain a better understanding of the decision's significance for both governments and developers.
  • Receive required ethics credit and enhance your knowledge of the NC Rules of Professional Conduct.
  • Learn about the most recent court decisions that may impact your practice.
  • Gain an understanding of current happenings involving sweepstakes in North Carolina.
  • Enhance your knowledge of e-verify laws and learn how to improve public-private collaboration.
