Successful family lawyers must be knowledgeable about a wide variety of legal issues beyond the “basic” family law claims for equitable distribution, child and spousal support, and child custody.

Family lawyers commonly advise clients about real property issues, electronic privacy, retirement and ERISA, tax problems, and potential criminal liability.

In this two-day program chock full of useful information on a wide variety of topics, exceptional family lawyers from across North Carolina share how to make practicing family law great — whether for the first time for newer lawyers or again for more experienced lawyers.

Also available is an advocacy skills clinic (Live program only) for hands-on training. This track is limited to 40 attorneys who have less than five years of experience.

Making Family Law Great Again: 2018 Essentials of Family Law is the must-attend CLE of the year!

ADVOCACY SKILLS CLINIC OPTION.

The Advocacy Skills Clinic is an alternative track separate and apart from the afternoon program sessions. It consists of afternoon sessions on both days of the CLE program. Attendees join the general essentials program sessions for the mornings, then break out into hands-on clinics in the afternoons.

All clinic participants are given two fact scenarios and are expected to attend the afternoon breakout sessions on both days. These scenarios are the basis for the clinic sessions where attendee participation is expected.

The Advocacy Skills Clinic is only available at the Live program. Because of the nature of the clinic, it is limited to 40 attorneys who have less than five years of family law experience.

To register for the Advocacy Skills Clinic version of this program, please call the CLE Department at 800.228.3402.
