Globalization of business has directly affected law practice in North Carolina.

Many of our clients do business with foreign vendors and suppliers, sell to foreign customers or have ownership outside the United States.

This program — a must for the 21st century lawyer — is designed to prepare you to advise your clients up front on the best international dispute resolution options available and best practices in managing a dispute should one arise.

At this program, attendees:

  • Review elements to consider when drafting a commercial international arbitration clause
  • Hear from in-hour counsel and representatives from the International Centre for Dispute Resolution
  • Explore ethics, conflicts and cultural issues in the conduct of international arbitration hearings
  • Discuss the special public policy problems that can arise in certain subject matter areas

We conclude the day with an overview of enforcement and collection of arbitral awards in federal and North Carolina courts.

Planned by the NCBA Dispute Resolution and International Law & Practice Sections
