Attorney-client privilege questions present numerous potential issues concerning applicable law.

A communication in North Carolina may become an issue in litigation in California, for example. In that situation, the forum court will sometimes apply its own privilege law, reasoning that the law of the forum always governs procedural matters and that evidentiary issues are procedural.
