The high pressure and high stakes of legal practice can easily lead to knee-jerk, emotion-based reactions.

These reactions can exhibit a low level of professionalism and may constitute or result in acts that that are ethically questionable.

Mindfulness is developing the ability to stay aware of your thoughts and emotions during high pressure situations. This awareness, in turn, helps you maintain your perspective and a sense of calm. When you are able to pause, breathe, and then act thoughtfully, you have a better chance of avoiding hasty decisions you will later regret. You are also better able to consider the range of responses available to you in the face of difficult choices, and choose a path that will be most beneficial to your client.

In this session, learn:

  • What is mindfulness
  • What is meditation and how to two are linked
  • How developing mindfulness can lead to more professional, ethical decision making
  • The various types of mindfulness practices
  • How to start a meditation practice
  • Situations in which mindfulness can positively affect your decision-making
